AP Hack Triggers $136.5 Billion Trade

Above is a 1 minute interval; below is a 144 Tick interval.

200,000 S&P 500 Futures Contracts changed hands in under two minutes today. That trade has a nominal value of $15 Billion. (It has now been reported by the AP that the actual value erased was $136.5 Billion) A breach of the AP twitter feed resulted in chaos on the futures markets today. It was a subtle reminder of the Firesail from the Die Hard 4 movie. The S&P Futures dropped 10 handles in less than 2 minutes. Spreads in the options were several dollars wide. Scary.
